Ah, the Waffle House, boon to and bane of the traveler. With its individually-lit-letter sign the regionally ubiquitous greasy spoon lends itself to many hilarious monikers when the fluorescent bulbs burn out. This location seems inadvertently close to advertising itself by one of its more colloquial names of “the Awful House.” The entire scene with the busy night streets, hard surfaces, and roadside businesses (a motel awaits in the foreground) is typical of the car-centric travel landscape to be expected along the interstate. |
